Delete your account

Leaving should be as quiet as arriving. You can delete your drift account and everything in it from inside the app, or by email if you no longer have it installed. No forms to chase, no retention call.

From inside the app

The fastest route, and the one we recommend.

  • Open drift and go to the Settings tab.
  • Scroll to the bottom and choose Delete account.
  • Confirm. That’s it.

Deletion starts immediately and signs you out on every device. There is no grace period and no way for us to undo it, so take a moment first if you want an export — Settings also has an Export action that produces a machine-readable copy of your projects, tags, and time entries.

If you can't open the app

You do not need to reinstall drift to delete your account. Email support@drift-timer.com from the address you signed up with, and say you’d like your account deleted.

We’ll confirm it’s really you, complete the deletion, and write back when it’s done — within 30 days, and usually much sooner. If you signed in with Google or Apple, email us from the address tied to that account.

What gets deleted

  • Your account and every sign-in record attached to it — password credentials, Google and Apple links, active sessions, and refresh tokens.
  • Your profile and preferences: display name, timezone, week start, time format.
  • All of your content: projects, tags, time entries and their notes, and goals.
  • Your subscription record, and we instruct RevenueCat to delete its record of you.
  • Any CLI session tokens you created for the terminal app.

What we keep, and for how long

  • Backups. Your data may persist in encrypted database backups for up to 30 days before they cycle out.
  • Diagnostic events. Product analytics we use to fix what breaks are retained for up to 12 months. They are not removed by the in-app deletion — email us and we’ll purge them too.
  • Waitlist. If you joined the waitlist on this website, that email address sits in a separate list. Ask us and we’ll remove it.
  • Records we’re required to keep. Tax and transaction records around subscriptions, for as long as the law requires.

One thing deletion does not do

Deleting your drift account does not cancel an active subscription billed by Apple or Google. Those are managed by the store, not by us. Cancel it in the App Store or Google Play subscription settings before or after deleting, or you may keep being charged.
